We are working with area youth organizations to manage the "Carolina Challenge Baseball League". We strive to provide youth leagues with an alternative to travel baseball. An alternative to travel ball designed to enhance and improve their leagues. We offer competitive tournaments without travel at a fraction of the cost of most travel baseball. Carolina Challenge Baseball League Game Rules

Game rules for age 11 through 12  

 

  • Games played on 70’ bases and 50’ pitching distance
  • No big barrel bats allowed
  • No “Slashing” (square to bunt, then pull back and hit away)
  • Runners may take a lead and run whenever they choose
  • Free substitution of players in and out of the game
  • Continuous batting order – all players are in the batting order
  • No head first slides, except back to the base the player occupies
  • Must slide to avoid contact
  • No 10 batter rule – the defense must get 3 outs
  • There is a 10 run slaughter rule after 4 innings
  • Dropped 3rd strike, catcher must tag batter or throw to first for the out
  • Balks will be called; umpires will give one warning
  • Pitchers may pitch a maximum of 2 innings per game
  • Once a pitcher is removed from pitching, he may not pitch again in that game
  • Infield fly rule is in effect
  • Minimum of 8 players required to start a game
  • Time limit: do not start another inning after 2 hours, no ties allowed
  • If a player is injured or must leave the game, spot in batting order is skipped with no out assessed
  • Coaches must be in dugout or directly in front of dugout; no buckets or equipment outside of dugout

Any rules not covered above revert to the Cal Ripken Tournament rules for each age group. The CCBL Protest Committee will rule on any issues, protests, etc., and the decision of this committee will be final. The committee is comprised of the local Tournament Director, and the CCBL official,  Al Dahlgren. Umpires judgement calls may not be protested.
